Anyone
who has seen Tommy Rando perform already knows what the rest of
the world is about to discover. Tommy is one of Australia's foremost
singer/songwriters. The first
thing that captures his audience's attention is the unique tone
of his voice, which has a warm and husky texture, along with his
impressive guitar skills. Even his soulful whisper conveys power,
conviction and grace - all the cuts and bruises of a life fully
lived. When he lets rip, we see his emotion creep in like an approaching
storm.
Rando, an Australian singer/guitarist from a very young age,
was helped along by a scholarship grant to the National Guitar
Summer Workshop held in Connecticut, New York. There he studied
with Jazz/Blues legends including John Scofield, Lenny Stern
and Ernie Jackson.
It was in the States that Tommy was guided to seek out the
ingredients that shaped his artistic style as a Singer/Songwriter.
A US tour for BMI stemmed from his time in New York. Tommy subsequently
hooked up with industry greats who observed his true talents
including president of Sire Records (Warner Music) Seymour Stein
and John Reid (manager Elton John & Queen).
Back at home, Tommy has played with some of Australia's finest
bands including Taxiride, Boom Crash Opera and Invertigo. He
has written songs for Vanessa Amorosi, Australian Idol artists
Anthony Callea, Lee Harding and many more. With a growing catalogue
of songs, Tommy has his tunes playing regularly on film and television.
In 2005 Tommy Co-wrote the emotional ballad I Will for pop
sensation Oryon (featured on the popular hit TV show "The
O.C.") and became a runaway hit on the American Billboard
Top 40.
Tommy co-wrote the number one Australian hit 'WASABI' for
Lee Harding, debuting at #1 in the Australian ARIA Singles Charts
in December 2005.
In 2010 Tommy Rando released his EP 'Signature' which is soon
due for release in the UK. Two songs from this EP are on high
rotation on Australia's Mix and Light FM.

Here are some comments from some of
the world's leading music industry greats on Tommy:
"There is no doubt that anyone in the audience of
one of Tommy's shows will see a brilliant singer/songwriter who
truly wears his heart on his sleeve. His ageless songs are executed
with vision and clarity and delivered with heart-felt reflection
and passion." - John Reid manager (Elton John &
Queen)
"What a great voice." - Warren Querns
Universal Music UK
"I'm pleasantly surprised. Without pigeonholing him,
he's like a Van Morrison, and then there are Pink Floyd-esque
moments. He's obviously a great talent." - Andrew
McManus Australian Promoter
"An amazing talent who has such a unique voice."
- Daryl Braithwaite
"The complete package
great writer."
